Refrigeration and food service equipment for businesses such as grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants can an consume a lot of energy and water—sometimes needlessly. Refrigeration equipment alone can account for as much as 60% of electricity consumption.
If your business has refrigeration or food service equipment, installing energy-efficient equipment and controls on existing or new equipment can help you reduce energy costs, enhance equipment reliability, improve customer experience, and improve your bottom line. The DCSEU provides standard rebates to District businesses and enhanced rebates to small businesses in the District for installing new spray rinse valves, ENERGY STAR®- refrigerators and freezers, as well as other vending equipment.

Eligibility
All projects must be submitted for pre-approval prior to the purchase of equipment. Applications that are not submitted for pre-approval are not guaranteed to receive rebates from the DCSEU.
To qualify for small business rebate amounts, the business where measures are being installed must occupy less than 10,000 square feet of space as a tenant in a larger building or the entire building that houses the business must be less than 10,000 square feet.
Total rebates are limited to $100,000 per location, per fiscal year. View all the Terms and Conditions.
