Apply for Rebates

If you are purchasing new equipment for your DC-based business, consider upgrading to an energy-efficient option. The DCSEU offers standard rebates on efficient equipment that will save you money and energy, making your business more economically and environmentally sustainable. Click on the icons above to find out more about the rebates available.

Follow the steps below to apply for rebates for your business:

Step One

Download the Lighting Rebate Application (.xls)
Download the Rebate Application for Other Electric and Gas Measures (.xls)
Download the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Rebate Application (.xls)

Fill out the rebate application(s), indicating the the proposed products you would like to install, and save the document.

Step Two

Submit your application for pre-approval. Please submit the following documents:

  • Excel version of the application
  • Signed version of the application (.pdf)
  • Pepco and/or Washington Gas Bill
  • Signed W9 Form for the party receiving the final rebate
  • Technical specifications (cut sheets) for your proposed measures

Fill out the web form, upload the application you saved and the documents listed above, and submit for pre-approval to the DCSEU.

Step Three

Receive confirmation of pre-approval and reservation of funds from the DCSEU

You will receive a confirmation e-mail indicating that you have been pre-approved and your funds have been reserved for your rebates. Once you receive your confirmation, your rebates will be reserved for 90 days in order for you to purchase and install your equipment.


Step Four

Submit your invoices and other required documents to the DCSEU*

Follow the instructions in the pre-approval application form and submit all required documents to BusinessRebates@dcseu.com to receive your rebate. Within five days of submitting final documents, you must provide the DCSEU access to your facility for inspection.

*The purchase and installation of materials must take place during the 90 day reservation period. Materials purchased 6 months prior to receiving pre-approval letter are not eligible for this program.

Step Five

Receive your rebate check from the DCSEU

Upon your application's approval and inspection of your project, you will receive your rebate from the DCSEU. Please allow up to 60 days for receipt of your rebate.

Energy Benchmarking

By 2014, all District buildings (commercial and multi-family) over 50,000 square feet must use Portfolio Manager to benchmark their energy efficiency and report that score to the city.
