Custom incentives, analysis, & technical assistance
Don’t see the equipment you want to purchase listed in our standard rebates? Any measure or operational improvement you are making in your District-based building that provides cost-effective electric savings is potentially eligible to receive technical assistance and rebates from the DCSEU.

Our Account Managers and and engineers are experts in the field that can assist you at no cost. Let them help you understand the District’s Building Energy Performance Standards, identify energy-saving opportunities in your building, and improve your ENERGY STAR® score to help your business.
Incentive Info
Lighting accounts for up to 50% of electricity consumption in businesses. The DCSEU works with universities, hospitals, hotels, parking garages, and many other types of businesses across the city to identify custom lighting solutions. Speak with one of our experts to devise a custom incentive that will save money and increase lighting quality.
Replacing a large chiller in your building? Work with the DCSEU to ensure your project is cost-effective and that you are incorporating other energy-saving opportunities like controls, economizers, and pumps at the same time.
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) not only offer potential energy savings, but they can also reduce maintenance needs, extending the life of your equipment. The DCSEU offers technical assistance and custom rebates for VFDs across a range of applications.
Maintain your building’s indoor air quality and efficiency by addressing leaky refrigeration and poor system management. Don’t make your equipment work harder to keep food fresh, partner with us to lower electricity bills and greenhouse gas emissions.
Taking steps towards building electrification? Use our incentives to install energy-efficient equipment that will reduce your facility’s energy use. Qualify for solar incentives from the DCSEU to generate the electricity you need to cut your electricity bills even further. Please note that to receive solar incentives you must work with us on a project that leads to annual reductions in energy consumption equivalent to at least 50% of the expected first year output from the solar capacity installed.
- In keeping with District policy and the Clean Energy DC plan, the DCSEU no longer offers rebates or incentives for the following new gas equipment installed in market-rate commercial, institutional, and multifamily buildings:
- Gas boilers - hot water conventional and condensing
- Gas boilers – Steam
- Gas furnaces
- Rooftop units – gas heating
- Gas instantaneous water heaters
- Gas storage water heaters
- Gas clothes dryers
- The DCSEU may still provide incentives and technical support for operations & maintenance (O&M) efficiency measures for existing gas equipment for all commercial and multifamily (market-rate and affordable) properties.
Financing
The DCSEU can help you gain access to financing energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades in your facility.
