Clothes washers and dryers are the two highest energy-using appliances in the average home. Buying a new ENERGY STAR® clothes washer and dryer can reduce your energy and water use by 30%.
The DCSEU offers a standard $75 and a premium $100 rebate on qualifying clothes washers and a standard $175 and a premium $275 rebate on qualifying clothes dryers when upgrading your old electric equipment. When upgrading from a gas dryer, you can get from $275 to $600 off qualifying dryers. The select appliances eligible for this rebate help you save more energy and money, while helping to protect the environment.

Eligibility
All Rebates
- Applicants must provide a dated sales receipt.
- The select clothes washers must meet the ENERGY STAR specifications.
- The select clothes dryers must be electric and ENERGY STAR certified.
- The select clothes washer and dryer combination unit must meet ENERGY STAR specifications.
- Limit of one clothes washer rebate and one clothes dryer rebate per utility account per fiscal year.
- Offer is valid on technologies installed after 10/1/2024. Please check back for updates to equipment installation date and application postmark date eligibility. Sign up for updates to be notified of any future changes.
Gas-to-Electric Rebates (additional requirements)
Each of the following methods are available to you to provide proof of your gas-to-electric equipment upgrade. Please review each method and submit all required documentation for the selected method.
Method #1 (recommended):
- Pre-installation photos showing gas equipment.
- Post-installation photos showing gas capping and installed electric equipment.
Method #2:
Only available for fully electrified homes. Homes with remaining gas equipment cannot use this method.
- Copy of a pre-installation gas bill, showing usage, that matches installation address.
- Copy of a post-installation gas bill, showing no usage, that matches installation address.
Method #3:
- Contractor invoice that indicates previous gas technology being capped and replaced.
- Post-installation photos showing gas capping and installed electric equipment.
