DC Electrification Rebates: Documentation Guide

Not sure what documents you need to get enhanced gas-to-electric rebates? You and your contractor can use this guide to keep track of everything. Here's what it includes:

  1. Electrification Rebate Documentation Checklist
  2. How to Document Your Electrification Project

1. Electrification rebate checklist

Use our Online Rebate Center to upload all the required documents for enhanced electrification rebates.

Here's a breakdown of the required documents for each  type.

Method A (recommended)

Method B (only available for fully electrified homes)

Homes with remaining gas equipment cannot use this method.

Method C

*Note: For gas dryers and stoves, only a picture of the equipment is required.

2. How to document your electrification project

To receive your rebate, you will need to upload a series of photos for each gas appliance or each piece of gas/oil HVAC equipment that is replaced with new electric equipment. The required photo types are:

  1. Previously installed furnace/boiler/heater with gas/fuel lines attached.
  2. Previously installed gas appliances.
  3. Newly installed equipment. (If that equipment is a heat pump, provide photos of both the compressor and air handler).
  4. Gas caps (Only if you apply using Method A or C).
  5. Electrical panels / circuits (only if you apply for heavy up or circuit add-on rebates).

IMPORTANT NOTES:
You must submit at least three photos of each piece of equipment to show all angles, lines, and the installation site of equipment

1. Example photos of previous furnace, boiler, or heater equipment with gas or fuel lines attached:

PRO TIPS:
1. Submit more photos than you need.
2.Not sure which line is which? Many gas lines are yellow while many heating oil lines are orange.

2. Example photos of previous gas appliances:

3. Example photos of newly installed electrical equipment:

4. Example photos of capped gas lines (for Method C only):

5. Example photos of electric panel or new circuits (for heavy up and circuit add-on only):

If you were unable to take photos of your gas equipment before it was replaced, you can still qualify for an electrification rebate. Here's what you'll need:

  1. If you fully electrified your home (i.e. took out all existing gas equipment), you can provide two Washington Gas bills:
    1. First bill would be dated prior to electrification project, showing usage in home.
    2. Second bill would be dated after electrification project, showing $0 of usage.
