Finally understand what your HVAC systems are doing, and why. This course will provide you with the knowledge to connect occupant behavior and space use to real, measurable energy costs. Participants will have an opportunity to build the foundational mental model that will prepare them as they enroll in intermediate or advanced HVAC systems courses.

Learning Objectives

Master the core thermodynamic principles that govern every heating and cooling load.
Understand the three ways heat moves: conduction, convection, and radiation.
Follow the vapor-compression refrigeration cycle and its three machines: compressor, condenser, evaporator.
Understand sensible versus latent heat, and why outside air is the most expensive air in the building.

This training course empowers attendees to gain the basic knowledge and understanding of heating and cooling systems. This is foundational to saving energy and making system improvements.
