Decarbonization in Residential Buildings

This course focuses on strategic approaches to reducing emissions in residential buildings, with attention to both operational and embodied carbon. Participants are introduced to carbon accounting fundamentals, including the distinction between operational and embodied emissions, and explore key decarbonization strategies such as electrification, fuel switching, renewable energy adoption, and deep energy retrofits. The course also addresses material selection, life-cycle analysis, policy and incentive landscape, and equity and accessibility considerations that influence how decarbonization strategies are planned and implemented in residential settings.
