Communicating Decarbonization to Residents

 This course focuses on communication strategies that support resident understanding and participation in decarbonization-related initiatives. Participants learn how to translate technical topics into language that is accessible and relevant to residents, frame messages around practical benefits, and address misinformation in a way that builds trust. The course also covers the use of data visualization, case studies, and resident-facing engagement tools such as speaking points and glossaries of common decarbonization terms. Scenario-based group exercises are included to help participants apply communication strategies in realistic situations.

This course is designed for professionals who need to communicate decarbonization-related initiatives, building changes, or sustainability efforts to residents in a way that is clear and credible. The session provides practical tools and examples that can support outreach, education, and engagement efforts across housing and residential contexts. Scenario-based group exercises give participants an opportunity to apply what they learn in realistic communication settings. The training is delivered in a virtual live format.
