Your Guide to Green

Custom Rebates

Don’t see the equipment you want to purchase listed in our standard rebates? Any measure or operational improvement you are making in your District-based building that provides cost-effective electric or natural gas savings is potentially eligible to receive technical assistance and rebates from the DCSEU.

Get Started on a Custom Rebate

Rebates Available

The DCSEU can assist you in evaluating your energy use and exploring different options with technical support and cash flow models over the useful life of the measures you are considering for your business. Custom technical assistance and rebates are available on a variety of equipment, including but not limited to:

LED Lighting and Controls

Lighting accounts for up to 50% of electricity consumption in businesses. The DCSEU has worked with universities, hospitals, hotels, parking garages, and many other types of businesses across the city to find custom lighting solutions that will save money and increase lighting quality.

Heating Equipment

For large heating projects where the equipment you want to purchase isn't listed for a standard rebate, the DCSEU can work with you to find the right solution for your facility. We have worked with many of DC's largest energy users on large boiler projects, updated controls, modulating burners, steam traps and even pipe insulation, providing them technical guidance and custom rebates that lower the cost of more energy-efficient options.

Cooling Equipment

Replacing a large chiller in your building? Work with the DCSEU to ensure your project is cost-effective and that you are incorporating other energy-saving opportunities like controls, economizers, and pumps at the same time.

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) not only offer potential energy savings, they can also reduce the maintenance needs and extend the life of your equipment. The DCSEU can offer technical assistance and custom rebates for VFDs across a range of applications.

Financing Your Project

The DCSEU can help you gain access to financing to fund your energy efficiency upgrades. With a customer's permission, the DCSEU provides project information to lenders to demonstrate the savings that can be realized by implementing energy efficiency upgrades. Lenders can review the project details and get in touch with you if they have a product that might be right for your business.

The DCSEU works with DC PACE, which offers 100% financing for qualifying clean energy and water conservation projects with no out of pocket payments.

In addition, the DCSEU is partnering with lenders in the District and beyond, including:

  • Amalgamated Bank
  • City First Enterprises
  • Enterprise Community Loan Fund
  • Metrus Energy
  • PEAR Energy
  • Self-Help Credit Union
  • SparkFund
