DC SEU Open House for Temporary Employment in Energy Efficiency

The District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility (DC SEU) is looking for enthusiastic, flexible, hard-working District residents to join their team through September 30, 2012. The DC SEU will hold an Open House to interview potential candidates for these positions on Thursday, August 16, 2012.

Available positions include:

  • Contractor Liaison

    – provide support to contractors in the field; may include buying supplies, running paperwork to the contractor’s office or the DC SEU, working with the DC SEU to schedule or reschedule work. Requires basic technical familiarity with energy efficiency measures, ideally experience with contractors, willingness to work in the field. Requires valid driver’s license.
  • Event Staff

    – work with the retail account managers to staff tables at community events and in retail locations where compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are sold; educates consumers about the benefits of CFLs. Requires a belief in our mission and values and an ability to speak about energy efficiency (with basic training).
  • Project & Administrative Assistants

    – perform a variety of administrative tasks, including data entry into spreadsheets and in-house developed software, contact contractors and customers to verify data and schedule appointments. Requires extreme attention to detail and basic computer skills.

All interviews will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and will take place on August 16, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on site at 1455 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004.

Offers will be presented immediately on Thursday, August 16, 2012 and Friday, August 17, 2012.  New hires must be prepared to start immediately and work through September 30, 2012. Compensation for these temporary positions is $20/hour. All new hires must submit to a police clearance check as a condition of employment.

Interested candidates must be District residents able to provide proof of residency at the open house. Please bring your resume and proof of District residency to the interview. Acceptable documents for proof of residency include: DC Driver’s License, DC Non-Driver’s License, Utility bill (water, gas, electric, oil or cable bill issued within 60 days), Telephone bill issued within 60 days (no cell phone or pager bills), DC Property Tax bill issued within 12 months, valid homeowner or renter insurance policy reflecting name and DC address, or a lease or rental agreement for a property located in DC issued within the last 2 years with the name of lessee or renter.
