Three Restaurants Dining Out on Energy Savings

In the spirit of Winter Restaurant Week, check out three participating restaurants that have partnered with the DCSEU on energy efficiency.

District Winery

District Winery is a boutique urban winery located in The Yards right by the DCSEU office. In 2017 the DCSEU partnered with District Winery to install energy efficient equipment including an ENERGY STAR dishwasher and fryer. The winery also received incentives for installing HVACS and lighting. As a result, District Winery saved almost $15,000 in the first year through energy savings.

Officina Italian Restaurant & Market

Officina Italian Restaurant & Market is an Italian-inspired culinary collective from Chef Nicholas Stefanelli located at The Wharf. In 2018 Officina worked with the DCSEU to upgrade their HVAC systems. As a result the restaurant was able to save about $11,000 in the first year.

Zaytina

Established by ThinkFoodGroup (TFG), Zaytinya is a restaurant that serves Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. In 2015, DCSEU helped upgrade the lighting in the front and back of the house. The upgrades allowed Zaytinya to save more than $8,250 in the first year. Since the upgrades, Zaytinya has also saved nearly 77,000 kWh of electricity each year.
