Meet Some of the Strong Women in This Year's Cohort

Twice a year, the DCSEU connects District residents with 5-month green externships working with local contractors and other organizations. This winter cohort has five strong women working in the field of sustainability. Meet four of them.

Yolanda Hayden

Yolanda is a Project Manager at WDC Solar. She heard about the DCSEU's Workforce Development Program through her coach at AimHire. Upon meeting Gleniss Wade, DCSEU's Workforce Development Program Manager, at a job fair and was convinced the program would be a great opportunity for her. 

Debra Lyles

Debra is a Business Analyst also at WDC Solar. Debra first heard about the program through her sister who also works for WDC Solar. Her favorite quote is, "The difference between who you are and who want to be is what you do." 

Hailey Alemán

Hailey is a Project Assistant at Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Office of Sustainability. She thought the program was a great opportunity to get a foot in the door with reputable organizations and gain futher experience in the environmental field. 

Marina Smith

Marina Smith is a Sustainability Analyst at the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). She's enjoying being able to learn so much on the job and has an interest in sustainability.
