Lighting accounts for 20-50% of the electricity consumption at a business and 20-30% of the electricity consumption in multifamily buildings.
The DCSEU provides standard rebates to District multifamily, commercial, and institutional buildings and enhanced rebates to small businesses in the District for installing a wide range of new, energy-efficient lighting and lighting controls, suitable for all types of needs. Quality, efficient lighting not only lowers energy costs, it can influence the way people feel and perform and has been shown to increase sales, improve student grades, and raise employee productivity.
As of January 1, 2023, due to the new federal standard for light bulbs in the US, the DCSEU is no longer offering rebates on all LED screw-based lighting.

Eligibility
All projects must be submitted for pre-approval prior to the purchase of equipment. Applications that are not submitted for pre-approval are not guaranteed to receive rebates from the DCSEU
To qualify for small business rebate amounts, the business where measures are being installed must occupy less than 10,000 square feet of space as a tenant in a larger building or the entire building that houses the business must be less than 10,000 square feet.
Total rebates are limited to $100,000 per location, per fiscal year. View all the Terms and Conditions.
