Course Description

The Clean Energy Center’s Commercial Building Re-tuning course teaches building managers, operations and maintenance staff, retro-commissioning agents, and control vendors how to make small to large-size commercial buildings more efficient, while improving their bottom line, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. The focus is on small to large commercial buildings (office buildings, malls, and schools), but the concepts and techniques presented can be applied to facilities of all types and sizes.

Building re-tuning is a systematic process to identify and correct building operational problems that lead to energy waste. Low to no-cost corrective measures include adjusting thermostats for actual occupancy patterns, changing set points in building automation systems or small, low-cost repairs such as replacing faulty sensors or caulking openings in the building envelope. By proactively utilizing the energy savings opportunities taught in the retuning training, operations staff can save between 5% and 25% of all energy used in the building.

The training consists of approximately 6-hours of live, instructor-led training, followed by a fully self-paced virtual commercial building walkdown. The self-paced virtual walkdown delivers a unique experience incorporating 360° camera technology and interactive learning techniques to provide a “live” commercial building tour from the comfort of your home or office.
