How it Works.
DC Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Participating Contractors will guide you through the process of improving the energy efficiency of your home. Just follow these steps to start saving money and energy with DC Home Performance:
STEP ONE: Schedule a whole-house energy audit*
When you’re ready to begin your energy efficiency improvements,
find a contractor to check the current performance of your home (air leakage, insulation, etc.).
*Note: there is a fee for the energy audit. The DC SEU does not provide energy audits.
STEP TWO: Agree on what work needs to be done
After your contractor audits your home, you will discuss your priorities, budget, and any other specific needs. Your contractor will also talk with you about financial incentives available to you from the DC SEU. Then you’ll agree to a final work order with your contractor.
STEP THREE: Check the work
Your contractor will conduct the same tests that were used during your audit to measure the improvements and make sure their work is successful. You’ll then submit any paperwork and required forms to receive your incentive from the DC SEU.
STEP FOUR: Enjoy the Benefits of Your Energy Efficiency Home Improvements!
After completing a DC Home Performance project in your home, you can look forward to a more comfortable home year-round, and lower energy bills that will save you money for years to come.
